Our Habitat homes are lovingly constructed almost entirely by volunteers, with the support of dedicated, skilled Habitat for Humanity Greater Ottawa staff. It takes many hands to build a Habitat home. We have opportunities for skilled and unskilled volunteers.
Volunteer on our Build Site
Phase III of our current build project is in progress!
Phase III of Leacross Landing broke ground in May 2019 with an expected completion date of early 2020. We’ll be constructing the final 8 homes in this development.
MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT
You must be a minimum of 16 years of age to volunteer on the build. Individuals who are 16-17 years of age require a waiver signed by a parent and/or guardian. Your parent and/or guardian is also required to volunteer alongside you on your build day.
COMMUNITY/ GENERAL HELP
For this role, there is no previous experience required and all of the safety gear, training and tools you need for the day is provided.
Once you sign up to become a volunteer with Habitat Greater Ottawa, you will receive scheduling updates as soon as they become available. Scheduling is all done online on a first-come, first served basis via your volunteer account. Please note that our build shifts are a full day, 8:00 am-3:30 pm, Tuesday to Friday.
BUILD CREW
For this specialized role, we are currently looking for volunteers with the following qualifications:
- Intermediate to advanced skills in construction and/or carpentry
- Well-versed in operating hand and power tools
- A good understanding of onsite health and safety guidelines
- Availability to help out once a week on a regular basis, Tuesday to Friday over the duration of the build
