Give to Gain: Building Gender Equity Through Affordable Homeownership

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY 2026

International Women’s Day 2026 calls us to Give To Gain — to forge gender equality through abundant giving.

At Habitat for Humanity Greater Ottawa, we see this truth every day. Safe, affordable homeownership creates stability, independence, and opportunity — especially for women and children who are disproportionately impacted by housing instability.

When a woman gains access to affordable housing, her family gains security.
When families gain stability, communities grow stronger.
That’s how giving multiplies.

Together, we build homes, community, and hope.

Women Build: Give Together. Build Together.

Habitat Greater Ottawa’s Women Build program brings women together to fundraise, volunteer, and build homes for local families.

Women Build is about empowerment, solidarity, and visible leadership. Teams raise funds and participate in a Habitat Build Day — gaining connection, confidence, and impact while helping another family gain a safe place to call home.

Give Housing. Gain Opportunity.

Access to safe housing is foundational to gender equality. It supports:

  • Financial stability
  • Improved mental and physical wellbeing
  • Educational success for children
  • Long-term generational change

When you support Habitat Greater Ottawa, you are helping build strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable homeownership right here in our community.

Make #IWD2026 one of the biggest giving days of the year.

Your gift helps build homes and brighter futures.
