When they moved to Canada two and a half years ago, Rachid and Fatma came with a vision for the life they wanted to build: new opportunities, and a bright, stable future for their sons.
For Rachid and Fatma, moving to Canada was a big decision. The move meant adapting to a new language, finding their place in a new job market, and being far away from friends and family. Navigating these changes has not always been easy, but it has brought them closer as a family and opened the door to new opportunities.
After building their life in Canada over the past few years, they are looking forward to having a permanent place to call home. While they are grateful for their current rental home, it is difficult to keep it comfortably warm during the winter, and they hope to have a home where their whole family can feel comfortable throughout the year.
“For us, home is a place where our family feels safe and connected. It is where we share meals, celebrate important moments, and create memories that stay with us,” says Rachid. “It’s also a place where we can put down roots, feel settled, and continue building our life together in Canada.”
Owning a Habitat home will not only bring more stability to their lives but also help them to feel connected to their community. They are passionate about helping others and want to pass on the values of hard work and generosity to their sons.
“Becoming homeowners through Habitat means being involved in the process, contributing our time and effort, and becoming part of a community,” shares Rachid. “This approach reflects our values and our desire to be active participants in building our future.”
Having a permanent home means their children can stay in the same neighbourhood, keep their friendships, and continue at the same school. This stability will allow them to focus more on their education, activities, and personal growth. It also means that they can continue to spend valuable time together as a family.
For Rachid and Fatma, building a brighter future and creating new memories starts with a home.
