For Samuel and Daenera, homeownership represents the opportunity to build the next chapter in their lives.

Like many young adults, they have growing careers, preparing to get married and looking forward to setting into a home where they can build their future. But in today’s housing market, finding a home that is both affordable and meets their needs has become increasingly difficult.

“We currently rent an apartment that is not rent-controlled and is too small for us to consider expanding our family,” says Samuel.

Their current housing situation became a constant reminder of how difficult it is to plan for the future when housing costs and economic uncertainty stand in the way. The hope of building their future is what brought Samuel and Daenera to Habitat’s Affordable Homeownership Program. By developing quality homes that fit every stage of life, Habitat works to ensure the path to homeownership is no longer a dream – but the cornerstone of a thriving community.

For Samuel and Daenera, that path represents something they have been working towards for years: a permanent place to call home where they can put down roots in their community.

And now with the dream of a stable and affordable home soon becoming a reality, they can look beyond the uncertainty of their current housing situation and focus on what comes next.

“Owning a home means we can start looking beyond our immediate financial and housing challenges,” says Samuel. “We’ll have the stability to continue building our careers, plan for the future together and create memories for years to come”

Their journey to homeownership reflects not only the realities of many young adults, but people of all ages and walks of life. Affordable homeownership gives people the stability and foundation to move forward to the next chapter in their lives while also building stronger, healthier communities.

A brighter future, starts with a home.
