Habitat Greater Ottawa’s Military Build program encourages Canadian veterans, active duty military members and reserve members volunteer and share in a unique experience while helping a local family find strength, stability and self-reliance through affordable home ownership.
On Thursday November 1st, 2018, Canadian veterans took the time to assist those building homes on the Habitat for Humanity Greater Ottawa build site. Sponsored by Lockheed Martin Canada, the second annual Veteran Build Day is a part of our Military Build program which takes place in November.
The Habitat Greater Ottawa Military Build Program encourages veterans and other military members to volunteer and assist those building their next home through Habitat for Humanity. It is an opportunity to share a special experience and help a local family establish themselves as homeowners.
“It is inspiring to see the incredible work being done by Habitat for Humanity Greater Ottawa, particularly with their Military Build program. Canada’s Veterans served their country proudly in uniform, and I’m not surprised to see them out of uniform now, serving their communities and helping these families. Every Canadian deserves a home that is safe and affordable, and this program does just that,” – Seamus O’Regan, Minister of Veterans Affairs.
Thank you to all who participated! The 2019 annual Military and Veteran Build Week will take place from November 4th – 8th, 2019. More information on the event will be available soon.
